Planner Sticker Types: A Beginner’s Guide to Shapes, Sizes & How They Fit

If you’re new to planner stickers, you might be wondering what all the different shapes and sizes are called — or whether the stickers in a kit will even fit your planner layout. There are so many types of stickers in planner sticker kits, and it can be a little overwhelming at first.

Most printable planner sticker kits include full box, half box, and quarter box stickers, along with headers, flags, checklists, icons, and more. In this post, I’m walking you through the common types of stickers I include in my kits, what their names mean, and the actual sizes so you know exactly what to expect — especially if you’re just getting started.

Common Planner Sticker Types (and What They're Used For)

Full Boxes, Half Boxes, and Quarter Boxes

Some of the most essential planner sticker shapes are boxes — specifically full boxes, half boxes, and quarter boxes. While sizes vary across brands, mine are sized to fit a standard 7" by 9" vertical layout (like the classic Happy Planner).

Sticker sizes in my kits:

  • Full Box: 1.5” x 1.9”

  • Half Box: 1.5” x 0.95”

  • Quarter Box: 1.5” x 0.475”

These are super versatile. You can use them for appointments, journaling, daily goals, checklists, or just to decorate a section. It’s one of the most flexible sticker types.

Header Stickers

Header stickers are great for labeling sections in your layout. I size mine at 1.5” x 0.25” — perfect for labeling your daily spreads or organizing to-do lists. You’ll find both pre-labeled headers (like “Today,” “Microtask,” and days of the week) and blank ones in my kits. I also include flag-style headers for a different look.

Checklist Flags

Checklist flags are super functional for planning. Instead of writing directly on the sticker like with full box checklists, you jot down your tasks beside each flag.

Sizes included in my kits:

  • Long Checklist Flag: 0.3” x 1.89”

  • Short Checklist Flag: 0.3” x 1.13”

Icon Stickers and Flags

While I don’t include a ton of icon stickers, I do have a few useful ones that help with quick visual cues in your layout.

Sizes for icons and flags:

  • Big Flag Sticker: 0.71” x 0.71”

  • Small Flag Sticker: 0.3” x 0.27”

  • Email/Mail Icon: 0.44” x 0.55”

  • Credit/Debit Card Icon: 0.56” x 0.94”

Tracker Stickers: Habits

Habit tracker stickers are a great way to stay consistent with routines. In my kits, they’re the same size as my quarter boxes (1.5” x 0.475”), though some kits use header-sized trackers instead.

Use them to track:

  • Water intake

  • Workouts

  • Study or practice time

  • Sleep

Basically, anything you want to build into a habit!

Decorative & Script Stickers to Personalize Your Spread

Decorative planner stickers vary the most in size and shape, so I don’t list dimensions for these. But you’ll find lots of visual extras in my kits, like:

  • Torn-edge corners

  • Washi strips

  • Motivational quotes

  • Decorative banners

These stickers help bring your layout to life and let you personalize your spread beyond just planning.

Final Thoughts: Choosing the Right Stickers for Your Planner

As you can see, there are many different types of stickers in planner sticker kits, and understanding their names and sizes can really help you choose the right kit for your planning style. Whether you use every sticker or just a few types, the goal is to make planning fun and functional. I design my kits with variety in mind so you can create layouts that fit your personality and needs.
